Hassard Bonnington’s insurance practice primarily focuses on three areas:

The defense of insurers in various lines, as well as health plans,
particularly in coverage issues, bad faith litigation, and claims
arising out of managed care.

The defense of policyholders.

Regulatory compliance and corporate affairs.
The firm has been particularly active in the health field, acquiring
special expertise in developing areas of law, particularly with respect to
the application of ERISA, liability for failure to provide benefits for
experimental treatment, carrier liability for acts of contracting
providers, and allegations of fiduciary responsibility.
The firm’s historical experience in interpreting and applying laws
regulating health care leads to requests for opinions or consultations in
this field. Those requests have increased as managed care arrangements are
constructed or implemented. Experience in both insurance and Knox-Keene
regulation also supports this practice.
Our insurance practice includes the defense of claims arising in various
